Workshop
I'm running one to one workshops that can be tailored specifically to your needs. On offer will be half day and full day options. If you are just visiting the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland for the day and have time constraints but still want to photograph some wildlife, then half a day could be for you. If on the other hand you want to experience all that the Forest of Bowland has to offer, then a full day is a better option.
Where: Forest of Bowland and Ribble Valley, in various locations with the possibility of some walking involved.
When: Spring and Summer 2023, If you have a specific date/s in mind then please contact me and I'll do my best to accommodate.
Cost: Half day £60
Full day £120
Timings: As with most circumstances, dealing with wild animals, you are on their time so earlier the better but roughly 4-6 hours for half a day and 8-10 for the full day.
What to wear: sturdy outdoor shoes, warm outdoor clothing including a wet weather coat.
What to bring: Camera, lens/es - anything over 300mm will do, anything shorter than that, you may not get close enough to the animal your photographing. A tripod is optional, if you have one than that will work. I recommend a packed lunch but I can stop before or during the day at various locations to get food and drink.
Species you may encounter: There are a lot of species that you could possibly see and photograph. My knowledge of where animals live in the Forest of Bowland and the Ribble Valley is extensive. I will provide various options of places to visit on the day and the species you might see, I'm always open for suggestions but, it would be worth adding here that any red listed or schedule 1 species will not be purposely sought out during the breeding season.
What you will get out of it: Hopefully many different species to see and photograph, tips on taking photos and suggestions on how to edit your pictures. I will make every effort for you to see wildlife but as always the unpredictability of nature means that there might not be anything seen on the day.
If you require any more information, then please do not hesitate to contact me so I can help you get the most out of your experience. To book a half or full day please email me at marklharder@gmail.com or get in touch via Instagram or Facebook.
These workshops will go towards helping the local wildlife as I plan to put back more than I take out, as I plan to work with local landowners to erect barn owl boxes to contribute to a sustainable population.
